The Program

Alexa Cervantes is a graduate from the University of Connecticut. There, she studied flute under Naomi Senzer and Aimee Toner. Currently, she is the Head Woodwind and Brass Instructor, as well as the Assistant Music Teacher, at Speak Music in Stamford. In addition to her work at Speak Music, Alexa teaches flute at Project Music, an El Sistema-inspired non-profit in Stamford. She was also the Interim Music Teacher for the Lower School at King School. 

Along with teaching, Alexa is an experienced performer. Her performance career has taken her to prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Yale’s Woolsey Hall, and Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, both on flute and piccolo. Alexa is also an active volunteer flutist with the Young Artists Philharmonic in Greenwich, and performs at events for the Greenwich Alliance’s Tuning In To Music program. In addition to her teaching and performing, Alexa is a composer, having written works for woodwinds and full orchestra! 

Outside of music, she serves as the Program Coordinator at Greenwich United Way. There, she is responsible for managing the youth volunteer and community service programs in the Greenwich area. Alexa is passionate about creating a positive and personalized learning experience for each student, aiming to foster both confidence and curiosity in every lesson.

Pianist Elisabeth Tomczyk is a sought-after pianist and chamber musician based in Vernon, Connecticut. Described by critics as a pianist who “creates miracles on the piano,” Elisabeth is recognized for her artistry, versatility and exceptional collaborative musicianship.

A native of Wisconsin, she began studying piano at the age of three and was accompanying choirs and instrumentalists by the age of nine. Passionate about contemporary chamber music, Elisabeth is a dedicated advocate for living composers, having premiered and recorded numerous new works. She performs regularly with faculty, students and guest artists at The Hartt School, the University of Connecticut, and Wesleyan University, and has appeared in concert throughout the United States and Europe.

Elisabeth holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from The Hartt School, where she studied with Dr. David Westfall, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Webster University where she studied with Daniel Schene. Beyond the concert stage, Elisabeth enjoys traveling, hiking and fishing with her husband. She is also an accomplished sewist and bag designer, running a small business where she creates handcrafted bags and accessories.
